Fish catches in April 2012
Total catch of Icelandic vessels in April 2012 was 80,340 tonnes compared to 36,756 tonnes in April 2011. Demersal species accounted for 36 thousand tonnes, thereof cod 16 thousand tonnes, haddock nearly 5 thousand tonnes, redfish 5 thousand tonnes and saithe 4 thousand tonnes. The pelagic catch was 38 thousand tonnes, nearly all Blue whiting.
At constant prices the volume of the catch increased by 32.8% in April 2012 compared with April 2011.
