Non-residential deaths in Iceland 1999-2008
A total of 129 individuals with a foreign domicile died in Iceland in the years 1999-2008. Almost half of these individuals (50) were tourists. A total of 21 individuals died within national air space or seas of Iceland and the same number of individuals was recorded in the Register of non-residents. Nineteen Icelandic citizens with foreign domicile and 18 others and unknown died in Iceland during the period.

Net international migration was minus 4,835 in 2009 compared with plus 1,144 in 2008. That is the largest negative net migration since 1801. The highest emigration recorded before 2009 happened in 1887 when net international migration was -2,229. More
