Labour market statistics, 4th quarter 2011 The number of persons in the labour force in the 4th quarter of 2011 was 175,700 which correspond to an activity rate of 78.4%. This is the lowest rate ever measured by the Icelandic Labour Force Survey. The number of employed persons was 165,100 and unemployed persons were 10,600. The employment rate was 73.7% and the unemployment rate was 6%. The number of both unemployed and employed persons decreased from the 4th quarter of 2010. Unemployed decreased by 2,600 and employed by 500.

The wage index is 0.3% higher than in the previous month

The wage index in December 2011 is 418.2 points, 0.3% higher than in the previous month. In the last twelve months the monthly wage index has risen by 9.2%. The real wage index in December is 111.1 points, and has decreased by 0.1% from previous month. More
