Fish catches in March 2007

Total catch of Icelandic vessels in March 2007 was 161,078 tonnes compared to 133,714 tonnes in March  2006. Demersal species accounted for 53 thousand tonnes, thereof cod 26 thousand tonnes, haddock 10 thousand tonnes and saithe 6 thousand tonnes. The capelin catch was 76 thousand tonnes and blue whiting 30 thousand tonnes.

At constant prices the volume of the catch decreased by 8,7% in March 2007 compared with March 2006.
