Overnight stays in hotels in July 2011

Overnight stays increased by 16% compared to July 2010
In July 2011, overnight stays in hotels were 229,100 compared with 196,700 in July 2010.

Nights spent by foreign tourists accounted for 88% of the total number of overnight stays in July and increased by 13% compared with July 2010. At the same time there was a 52% increase in overnight stays of Icelanders compared with July 2010.

Overnight stays in hotels increased between years
The number of overnight stays in the first seven months of 2011 was 847,000, an 13% increase compared with the same period 2010.

The data above only show overnight stays in hotels that are operating for the whole year. Guesthouses and summer hotels are not included in this category.
