Overnight stays increased by 27% compared with December 2010
In December 2011, overnight stays in hotels were 69,200 compared with 54,300 in December 2010.
Nights spent by foreign tourists accounted for 76% of the total number of overnight stays in December and increased by 27% compared with December 2010. At the same time the overnight stays of Icelanders increased by 4%.
Overnight stays in hotels increased by 14% from 2010
The number of overnight stays for the year 2011 was 1,488,400 compared to 1,309,700 for the year 2010.
The data above only show overnight stays in hotels that are operating for the whole year. Guesthouses and summer hotels are not included in this category.
