Labour cost index in 4th quarter 2011

Total labour costs per hour increased by 11.1% between the 3rd and 4th quarter of 2011 in the economic activity of Transport, storage and communication, 9.6% in Wholesale and retail trade; repair, 8.3% in Manufacturing and 6.4% in Construction .

Total labour costs excluding bonuses increased between quarters by 4% in Construction, 3.9% in Wholesale and retail trade; repair and Transport, storage and communication and 1.4% in Manufacturing.

From the previous year total labour costs rose in all economic activities. The increase ranged from 5.3% in Wholesale and retail trade; repair to 8.4% in Transport, storage and communication.


 

The labour cost index measures, on a quarterly basis, the development of labour costs per hour worked. The index is not adjusted to changes in working hours or labour structure.
