Total catch increased by 27.3% in May

Total catch of Icelandic vessels in May 2013 was 89,674 tonnes compared to 65,488 tonnes in May 2012. Demersal species accounted for 45 thousand tonnes, thereof cod 19 thousand tonnes, haddock nearly 3,400 tonnes, redfish 4,700 tonnes and saithe 5,600 tonnes. The pelagic catch was 37,500 tonnes, thereof blue whiting 37,465 tonnes.

At constant prices the volume of the catch increased by 27.3% in May 2013 compared with May 2012.
