Unemployment 6.6% in April
The number of persons in the labour force in April 2013 was 186,800 which correspond to an activity rate of 82.3%. The number of employed persons was 174,400 and unemployed persons were 12,300. The employment rate was 76.9% and the unemployment rate was 6.6%. The unemployment rate has decreased by one percentage point from April 2012 when it was 7.6%. In April 2013 the male unemployment rate was 7.1% compared to 8.2% in April 2012 and the female unemployment rate was 6% compared to 7% in April 2012.

Seasonally adjusted unemployment 5.8%
The seasonally adjusted data shows that in April 2013 the number of people in the labour force was 185,200 or 82% activity rate compared to 184,400 and 80.8% in March. The number of unemployed persons amounted to 10,700 or 5.8% compared to 11,700 and 6.3% in March. The number of seasonally adjusted employed persons in April was 174,500 or 77.3% compared to 172,700 and 75.6% in March.
The seasonally adjusted trend data shows that for the last six months the labour force has increased by 2.2% and the activity rate by 0.8 points. Unemployment has increased by 1.2% but the unemployment rate decreased by 0.1 points. Employment has increased by 2.3% and the employment rate by 0.8 points. The twelve month trend for activity has increased 1.4%, unemployment has decreased by 9.7% and the employment by 3.3%.
Implementation
April 2013 is divided in to four weeks, from the 1st to 28th of April 2013. The total sample size for April 2013 was 1,211 persons, 16–74 years randomly chosen from the Population Register. When those who had passed away or those who were living abroad had been deducted from the sample the net sample was 1,179 persons. In total the number of usable answers was 951 which correspond to 80.7% response rate. All figures have been weighted by sex and age groups. The confidence limit of the results on activity rate is ±2.4 points, employment rate is ±2.6% and unemployment rate is ±1.7%. Figures may not add up because of rounding.
