The total amount of imported raw material for fish processing in the year 2004 was 199,650 tonnes, a decrease of 25,201 tonnes (-11.2%) from the year 2003. The value of this import on the other hand increased by 16.4% in 2004, from ISK 5.6 billion in 2003 to ISK 6.5 billion in 2004. This is partly due to an increase in the import of shrimp.
