Tourist accommodation 2010
| The total number of overnight stays was 3 million in the year 2010, which is similar to the number of overnight stays in 2009. From 2009 to 2010 the number of overnight stays increased in hotels and guesthouses, in youth hostels and in private home accommodation. In other types of accommodation establishments the number of overnight stays decreased between years. In the South region overnight stays decreased by 12% between years due to the volcanic eruption in Eyjafjallajökull, but even so the number overnight stays was 7% higher in 2010 than it was in 2008. |
