By the end of the year 2004 the total number of fishing vessels, registered at the Icelandic Maritime Administration, was 1,824, 48 vessels less than in the year 2003. The number of decked vessels was 869 and their combined size was 101,031 GT. The number of decked vessels was unaltered from 2003, however the decked-vessel fleet decreased by 1,299 GT. The number of trawlers was 70 by the year-end 2004 and their combined size amounted to 86,048 GT. The number of trawlers decreased by 1 since 2003 but the total size of the trawler fleet increased by 8,984 GT. The number of registered undecked vessels was 885 in 2004 weighing 4,143 GT. Undecked vessels were 47 less than in the year 2003 and their total size decreased by 188 GT.
