Registered students in schools at the upper secondary and tertiary level in autumn 2011 In autumn 2011 there were 48,723 students enrolled. There were 29,389 registered students at the upper secondary level and 19,334 at the tertiary level. The number of registered students increased by 3.1% from the previous year. The decrease in the number of students from last year has mostly been reversed. The number of registered students at the upper secondary and post-secondary non-tertiary level increased by almost 5% and at the university and doctoral levels by almost 1%. The number of elementary school pupils in upper secondary schools decreased for the third year in a row.

Personnel in schools at the tertiary level not fewer since 2005-2006 but more students

The number of personnel in schools at the tertiary level decreased by 140 (4.6%) between November 2010 and November 2011, and has not been lower since the school year 2005-2006. The number of full-time equivalent jobs decreased by 108 (4.8%) in the same period. On the other hand, the number of students in schools at the tertiary level increased by 1.7% from the school year 2010-2011.More
