There were 261 new registrations of private limited companies in March 2016. New registrations increased by 14% over the last 12 months, from April 2015 to March 2016, compared to the prior 12 months. There were 2,465 new registrations during the period, compared with 2,161 in the previous 12 months. The greatest increase in new registrations was in Real estate activities, from 230 to 394, or a 71% increase from the previous 12 months. Also of note is an increase in registrations from 157 to 204 in Administrative and support service activities (30%), and an increase from 142 to 172 in Accommodation and food service activities (21%). Proportionately, the greatest decrease in new registrations during the period was 7% in Wholesale and retail trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (from 285 to 266).

There were 120 corporate insolvencies in March 2016. Corporate insolvencies decreased by 15% over the last 12 months, from April 2015 to March 2016, compared to the prior 12 months. There were 673 corporate insolvencies during the period, compared with 792 in the previous 12 months. The greatest proportional decrease of insolvencies was in Real estate activities, from 95 to 62 (35%). Also of mention is a decrease in insolvencies from 66 to 45 in Accommodation and food service activities (32%), and from 26 to 18 in Agriculture, forestry and fishing (31%). There was a decrease in insolvencies during the period for all major sections of economic activity except for Administrative and support service activities, where corporate insolvencies increased from 34 to 36 between periods (6%).
