NEWS RELEASE EXTERNAL TRADE 01 SEPTEMBER 2017

The surplus of balance of trade in goods and services in the second quarter of 2017, as published in National Accounts and Balance of Payments, was 14,685 million ISK according to preliminary figures, compared with 25,087 million ISK in the second quarter of 2016.

The deficit of converted trade in goods was 45,769 million ISK while the surplus of balance of trade in services was 60,454 million ISK, in the second quarter of 2017. Total export of goods and services for the second quarter of 2017 was 300,707 million ISK while total import of goods and services was 286,022 million ISK.

In the first half of 2017, according to preliminary figures, the surplus of balance of trade in goods and services was 20.321 million ISK at current exchange rates, compared with 27.291 million ISK for the first half of 2016.

Final figures for 2016 show that the surplus of balance of trade in goods and services in 2016 was 155.411 million ISK compared with 163.875 million ISK in 2015.


These figures are published in the Transition table on Statistic Iceland’s website, which harmonizes the standards for trade in goods and balance of payment.
