The infant mortality was between 2.5 and 3.4 in the other Nordic countries. In 2010 the infant mortality rate in Europe was highest in Turkey, 13.2 per 1,000 live births.

In 2011, mean life expectancy at birth for Icelandic women was 83.8 years and 80.1 years for men. In 2010 mean life expectancy for Icelandic women was the ninth highest in Europe. The highest average life expectancy for women in Europe in 2010 was in Spain (85.3 years) and France (85.0 years). Mean life expectancy for Icelandic men was the second highest (79,7 years) in Europe in 2010 with Switzerland in first place with an average expected life span of 79.9 years and Sweden in third place with an average life span of 79.6 years.
