The CPI compiled in January 2004 is 230.1 points (May 1988=100), 0.04 per cent higher than in the previous month. The CPI less housing cost is 224.5, 0.09 per cent lower than in December.

Winter sales caused decrease in clothing- and footvear prices by 11 per cent (effect on the CPI -0.6 per cent) and in prices of furnitures and furnishing by 1.9 per cent (-0.11). Food prices went up 1.3 per cent (0.19) and the charges of dwelling related services rose by 9.9 per cent (0.11).

Price changes for services of specialist doctors working in private clinics are estimated to 85 per cent (0.24) due to lack of an agreement between them and the State Social Security Institute about payments for their services. The estimate supposes a large reduction in number of visits to specialist clinics.

The CPI in January 2004 is 2.4 per cent higher than in January 2003 and the CPI less housing cost is 1.3 per cent higher. The CPI increased by 0.5 per cent over the last three months equivalent to an annual inflation of 1.9 per cent. 

The credit term index in February 2004 is 230.1 points. The old credit term index is 4.543 points in February 2004.

The average index for year 2003 was 227.3 points, 2.1 per cent higher than previous year. Similar raise was 4.8 per cent for year 2002 and 6.7 per cent for year 2001. 

The comsumer price index without housing was on average 222.8 points year 2003, 0.7 per cent higher than previous year. Similarly it was 4.6 per cent in  2002 and 6.8 per cent in 2001.
