Fish catches in May 2012
Total catch of Icelandic vessels in May 2012 was 65,426 tonnes compared to 43,441 tonnes in May 2011. Demersal species accounted for 39,200 tonnes, thereof cod 17,300 tonnes, haddock nearly 4,500 tonnes, redfish 4,600 tonnes and saithe 5,200 tonnes. The pelagic catch was 19,500 tonnes, nearly all Blue whiting.
At constant prices the volume of the catch increased by 11.1% in May 2012 compared with May 2011.
