Total value of catch increased by 23.4%
Total value of catch of Icelandic vessels amounted to 70.7 billion ISK in January-May 2012, compared with 57.3 billion ISK in the first five months of 2011. Total value increased therefore by 23.4% between years.
Total value of demersal species accounted for ISK 45.5 billion; thereof cod ISK 24 billion, haddock 6.8 billion, and redfish 7.1 billion. Total value of pelagic species accounted for ISK 17.1 billion and flatfish catches for 5.3 billion.
