Economic accounts of agriculture 2007-2011

Statistics Iceland publishes for the first time Economic Accounts for Agriculture. The period under observation was 2007-2011. The main results show an increase in production value, in basic prices, of the agricultural industry to 51.8 billion ISK in 2011, up from 47 billion ISK in the preceding year, or by 10.2%. Input use also increased in nominal terms, but less, or by 7.8%, from 32.1 to 34.6 billion ISK. In real terms output in 2011 remained almost unchanged from the preceding year at 0.3% growth but intermediate consumption declined by 2.8%. |

Total catch increased by 27.3% in May
Total catch of Icelandic vessels in May 2013 was 89,674 tonnes compared to 65,488 tonnes in May 2012. Demersal species accounted for 45 thousand tonnes, thereof cod 19 thousand tonnes, haddock nearly 3,400 tonnes, redfish 4,700 tonnes and saithe 5,600 tonnes.
