NEWS RELEASE NATIONAL ACCOUNTS 09 SEPTEMBER 2016

In real terms, non-seasonally adjusted Gross Domestic Product (GDP) for the first two quarters of 2016 increased by 4.1% compared with the same period of 2015. Total domestic final expenditure increased by 9.4%. Household final consumption increased by 7.7%, government final consumption by 0.6% and gross fixed capital formation by 29.5%. At the same time balance of trade in goods and services worsened, ex­ports grew by 5.3% and imports grew by 16.2%.

Non-seasonally adjusted figures indicate a year over year (YOY) increase in real GDP by 3.7% for the 2nd quarter of 2016. Total domestic expenditure increased by 9.7%. Household final consump­tion increased by 8.2%, government final consumption by 1.1% and gross fixed capital formation by 31.2%. At the same time exports grew by 4.9% and imports grew by 16.7%.
