Trade deficit of 31 billion ISK in July

The value of exported goods from Iceland amounted to 75.8 billion ISK fob in July 2022 and the value of imported goods 106.8 billion ISK cif (95.4 billion ISK fob). Thus, there was a trade deficit, calculated on fob/cif value, of 31.0 billion ISK as compared with a trade deficit of 14.8 billion ISK in July 2021 at current rates of exchange.

10% decrease in new registrations in July

New registrations of private limited companies in July 2022 were 230, which is a 10% decrease from July 2021. Compared with July 2021, there was an increase of new registrations from 8 to 15 in Agriculture, forestry and fishing, while there was a decrease from 40 to 25 in Financial and insurance activities, and from 24 to 11 in Information and communication. Figures have been updated.

Unemployment 4.0% in June

The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in June 2022 was 4.0% according to results from the Icelandic Labour Force Survey. The seasonally adjusted activity rate was 79.8% and the seasonally adjusted employment rate 76.6%. The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate increased by 0.5 percentage points between months while the seasonally adjusted employment rate decreased by 1.4 percentage points.
