In total, just over 209 thousand individuals were employed in the Icelandic labour market in October 2022 according to register-based data. The increase in employed individuals was just over 10 thousand between years, which corresponds to a 5.3% increase. The number of employed individuals with Icelandic background was over 162 thousand in October 2022 while employed immigrants were over 46 thousand. Figures have been updated.
The total sum of taxable wages in October 2022 are essentially unchanged from the previous month. The annual changes vary between economic activities. Note that data have not been adjusted for inflation. Figures have been updated.
Meat production in October 2022 was 9% less than last year mainly due to 15% less lamb production. There was a 6% increase in pork production and 7% increase in beef production, while poultry meat production decreased by 2%. Carcass weight of lambs were 5% less than last year and number of lambs for slaughtering 11% less. Figures have been updated.
According to the results of national accounts, the estimated nominal value of gross domestic product (GDP) amounted to 997.8 billion ISK in the third quarter of 2022 and its growth (economic growth) 7.3% compared with the same period last year.
