The total catch of Icelandic vessels was 108 thousand tonnes in May 2021 which is 14% less than in May 2020. Demersal catch was 42 thousand tonnes of which 25 thousand tonnes were cod. The pelagic catch in May was mostly blue whiting, 58 thousand tonnes.
Household gross disposable income is estimated to have increased by 8.1% in the first quarter of 2021, compared with last year’s corresponding quarter. Disposable income per capita amounted to close to 1.1 million ISK in the quarter and is estimated to have icreased by 7% compared with the first quarter of 2020. The purchasing power of household disposable income per capita increased by 2.6% during the same period.
In the first quarter of 2021, the financial balance of the general government is estimated at 58.1 billion ISK in deficit or amounting to 8.2% of quarterly GDP.
The value of first sale in the first quarter of 2021 was 43.2 billion ISK which is 26% more than in first quarter of 2020.
