Final data on research and experimental development in Iceland in 2017 have been released. The total expenditures amounted to 55 billion ISK and 2.1% of GDP.
General government financial assets amounted to 1,413 billion ISK at year-end 2018, 50.4% of GDP. Total government liabilities amounted to 1,913 billion ISK, or 68.2% of GDP, compared with 75.3% at year-end 2017.
The total catch of Icelandic vessels in February 2019 was over 74 thousand tonnes which is a 13% decrease from February 2018. Pelagic catch decreased since no capelin was caught in the period.
News release on VAT-turnover in November- December 2018, due for release on 14 March, will be postponed until Tuesday 19 March 2019.
Tourists spending at least one night in Iceland are estimated to be 89% of the foreign passengers counted through airport security at Keflavik Airport in February. Number of overnight visitors in February was 132 thousand and decreased by 8% compared to February 2018.
