General elections to the Icelandic parliament, Althingi, were held on 30 November 2024. During the elections, a total of 268,490 people, or 68.9% of the population, were registered to vote. Of these, 215,395 voted, or 80.2% of registered voters. The voter turnout for women was 81.2%, 79.2% for men, and 69.9% for non-binary/other.
Voter turnout varied by age and was generally lower among younger voters as compared to older voters. Voter turnout was 83.4% among individuals with no foreign background, while it was 41.2% among immigrants.
During the elections, 44,965 people, or 20.9% of voters, voted outside the polling station (absentee votes) compared with 23.4% in the 2021 elections.
