The total Icelandic production of ungutted fish in aquaculture in 2025 was 64,417 tonnes, a 17% increase from 2024. By far the most was produced of Atlantic salmon, or 58,717 tonnes, which is a 19% increase from 2024.. Arctic char amounted to 5,141 tonnes, a 8% increase, while other species accounted for less than 1,000 tonnes.
The export value of all aquaculture products decreased by 1% between years and was 53.4 billion ISK in 2025, of which salmon products accounted for 48.7 billion ISK. However, the volume of exported products was 12% higher than in 2024 or 48,585 tonnes.
Data on aquaculture production in Europe up to the end of 2024 show that Norway was by far the largest producer in aquaculture, with just over 1.6 million tonnes. Iceland remained the largest producer of Arctic char with 4,778 tonnes. Iceland produces a small amount of rainbow trout, while Norway, France and Italy produce the most.
