Catch of Icelandic vessels in May 2020 was 126.6 thousand tonnes which is 3% less than in May 2019. Pelagic species which consisted mainly of blue whiting, 79 thousand tonnes, which is 14% more than in May 2019. The total catch of demersal species was 42.5 thousand tonnes, 12% less than in May last year. Cod catch was 26.7 thousand tonnes, 1% increase from the previous year.

Total catch in the 12 month period from June 2019 to May 2020 amounted to 969 thousand tonnes which is 12% less than in the same period one year earlier. The value index of catch in May 2020 is 8.9% lower than in May 2019.
