NEWS RELEASE FISHERIES 16 JULY 2018

The total catch of Icelandic vessels in June was 47.227 tonnes, a 11% decrease from June 2017. Demersal catch was just over 32 thousand tonnes, a decrease of 2%, where cod amounted to 18.000 tonnes, 2% less than in June 2017. 11.000 tonnes where caught of pelagic species, 31% less than in June 2017, which was nearly all blue-whiting. Shellfish catch was 735 tonnes compared with 742 tonnes in June 2017.

In the 12 month period from July 2017 to June 2018 the total catch was just under 1,266 thousand tonnes, an decrease of 8% compared with the same period a year earlier.

The price value index was 6% lower than in June 2017.
