The value of catch from Icelandic vessels in August 2017 was 11.9 billion ISK which is 8.2% less than in August 2016. However the tonnage of catch was the same as in August last year.
Demersal catch value was 6.8 billion ISK, which is 2.4% more than in August 2016. Value of cod was 4 billion ISK which is a 6.5% increase. Value of flatfish increased by 11% and the value of shellfish decreased by 34%. The value of pelagic catch was 3.6 billion ISK in August 2017 but was 4.8 billion in August 2016, a 24% reduction in value.
Total value of catch in the 12 month period from September 2016 to August 2017 was 110.8 billion ISK which is a 19.5% decrease compared with catch value for the same period one year earlier.
