For the year 2016 the total value of Icelandic catch was 133 billion ISK compared with 151 billion ISK in 2015. Total value has therefore decreased by 12.1%. Demersal catch decreased 9.9% and pelagic catch by 19.6%. Value of herring increased by 11% while value of capelin decreased by 60.9%.
The value of catch in December 2016 was ISK 6.566 million which is 22.6% less than in December 2015. According to preliminary data the value of demersal catch decreased by 29.6% and the value of pelagic catch decreased by 82.7%.
