The population of Iceland at the end of the fourth quarter 2025 was 394,530, 202,220 males, 192,090 females and non-binary/other were 210. The population increased by 1,370 from the previous quarter. Inhabitants of the capital region were 252,080 and 142,450 lived in other regions.
A total of 1,080 children were born in the fourth quarter and 690 persons died. Net migration was 990 persons. Net migration of persons with Icelandic citizenship was 200, and 790 for foreign citizens. More males than females emigrated. Foreign citizens were 70,420, or 17.8% of the total population in Iceland by the end of the fourth quarter 2025.
