According to measurement from the Icelandic Labour Force Survey, the unemployment rate among individuals aged 16 to 74 was 3.2% in July 2025. The number of unemployed persons was approximately 7,800. The employment rate stood at 80.3%, corresponding to just under 233,000 individuals, and the activity rate was 83%, representing about 240,800 people in the labour force.
Compared to the same month in 2024, unemployment increased by 1.3 percentage points, the employment rate declined by 3.5 percentage points, and the activity rate fell by 2.5 percentage points.
Seasonally adjusted figures for July 2025 showed an unemployment rate of 4.0%. The seasonally adjusted employment rate was 78.2%, and the activity rate was 81.4%. Between June and July, seasonally adjusted unemployment rose by 1.3 percentage points, the employment rate decreased by 1.3 percentage points and the activity rate dropped by 0.2 percentage points.
