The producer price index (PPI) in June 2007 was 118.2 points, 0.1% lower than in the previous month. The PPI for fish products was 119.7 points, 1.0% lower than in May (effect on the index -0.4%), and the PPI for power intensive industry products was 143.3 points, 1.3% lower (-0.2%). The PPI for food products was 0.1% lower than in May (0.0%) while the PPI for other manufactured products rose by 1.9% (0.5%).
The PPI for domestically sold products was 0.8% higher than in the previous month (0.3%) while the index for exported products declined 0.7% (-0.4%).
From June 2006, the PPI has decreased by 4.8%. Over the last twelve months the PPI for fish products has fallen by 4.5% and the PPI for power intensive industry products by 14.8%. The PPI for food products rose by 2.3% in the same period.
Basic weights for the PPI are revised annually and are as of June 2007 based on Statistics Iceland’s PRODCOM survey for the years 2005 and 2006.
