Turnover according to VAT reports in Icelandic tourism sectors was 91,6 billion ISK in September to October, an increase of 190% compared with the same period 2020.
Estimated overnight stays in hotels in December were 198,400 compared with 21,277 in December 2020. The number of overnight stays by Icelanders was 41,400 (+137%) and the number of overnight stays by foreign guests was 157,000 (+4057%).
In December, there were 97,568 departures of passengers from Keflavik airport compared with 11,646 in Dec 2020. Departures of passengers with foreign citizenship were 64,305 compared with 8,135 in December 2020.
This release includes updated statistics on overnight stays and turnover by VAT reports. Also updated are statistics on rental cars from the Icelandic Transport Authority, traffic statistics from the Icelandic Road and Coastal Administration, passengers count by nationality from the Icelandic Tourist Board and passengers’ statistics through Keflavik Airport along with traffic statistics published by ISAVIA.
