Overnight stays in hotels in August 2023 were 599,247 compared with 597,794 in August the year before. The number of overnight stays by foreign guests were 504,012 (+2%) and the number of overnight stays by Icelanders were 95,235 (-10%).
In September, there were 268,355 departures of passengers from Keflavik airport compared with 237,270 in September 2022. Departures of passengers with foreign citizenship were 221,603 compared with 176,988 a year earlier.
This release includes updated statistics on overnight stays and statistics on rental cars from the Icelandic Transport Authority, traffic statistics from the Icelandic Road and Coastal Administration, passengers count by nationality from the Icelandic Tourist Board and passengers’ statistics through Keflavik Airport along with traffic statistics published by ISAVIA.
