Employment in the tourism industry in Iceland was 35,031 in August 2025, almost the same as in August 2024. In the 12-month period from September 2024 to August 2025, an average of 31,530 individuals worked in the tourism industry compared with 31,583 in the previous 12-month period.
Overnight stays in hotels in August 2025 were 667,044 compared with 608,748 in August the year before. The number of overnight stays by Icelanders were 50,996, (-13,6%) and the number of overnight stays by foreign guests were 616,048 (12%). In September, there were 283,566 departures of passengers from Keflavik airport compared with 274,810 in September 2024. Departures of passengers with foreign citizenship were 224,111 compared with 223,025 in September 2024, which is similar number of passengers than the same period last year.

It also provides updated statistics on traffic statistics from the Icelandic Road and Coastal Administration, passengers count by nationality from the Icelandic Tourist Board and passengers’ statistics through Keflavik Airport along with traffic statistics published by ISAVIA
