The CPI in February 2008 rose by 1.38% from the preceding month (1.55% less housing cost). Over the last 12 months the CPI rose by 6.8% (CPI less housing cost rose by 3.9%) while the change over the last 3 months is equivalent to an annual inflation of 9.3% (8.6% inflation less housing cost). In Iceland, the HICP fell by 0.1% in January and by 0.28% in the EEA. Over the 12 months to January the HICP in Iceland rose by 3.1% and by 3.3% in the EEA. The building cost index in February rose by 1.3% from the preceding month and rose by 4.8% on February 2007.
