The CPI in April 2008 rose by 3.41% from the preceding month (4.21% less housing cost). Over the last 12 months the CPI rose by 11.8% (CPI less housing cost rose by 10.6%) while the change over the last 3 months is equivalent to an annual inflation of 28.0% (33.1% inflation less housing cost). In Iceland, the HICP rose by 1.6% in March and by 0.9% in the EEA. Over the 12 months to March the HICP in Iceland rose by 6.8% and by 3.8% in the EEA. The building cost index in April rose by 3.3% from the preceding month and rose by 12.5% on April 2007.
