Value of catch from Icelandic vessels in August was nearly 12.2 billion ISK, around 3% increase compared with August 2014. Value of demersal catch was nearly 5.9 billion ISK an increase of 27.3%. Value of pelagic catch was just over 5.1 billion ISK and decreased by 24.1% compared with the previous year, the biggest factor was 1.9 billion ISK decrease in value of mackerel. Value of flatfish was 822 million ISK in august compared with 150 million ISK in August 2014 which is mostly due to an increase in Greenland halibut catch. Value of shellfish increased as well, was nearly 318 million ISK in August compared with 275 million in in the previous year.
Value of catch in the twelve month period between September 2014 to August 2015 increased by 9.6% compared with the same periode a year earlier. Value of catch has increased by 6.7% in demersals, 16.4% in flatfish and 16.9% in pelagics.
